Mumbai: In a major announcement for Indian streaming entertainment, JioHotstar has joined hands with acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani to present a new original series titled Pritam and Pedro, which is set to premiere on July 3.
The project marks Hirani’s much-anticipated debut in the long-form streaming space, bringing his signature storytelling style—known for its warmth, humour, and emotional depth—to a new digital audience.
A Story Born from Mystery and Human Connection
Directed by filmmaker Avinash Arun, Pritam and Pedro opens with an intriguing premise: a deserted ATM found on a beach and two completely contrasting individuals drawn into a mystery that unfolds around it.
While the creators have kept the larger storyline under wraps, the early glimpse suggests a grounded narrative layered with humour, emotion, and unexpected twists.
The series aims to blend cinematic storytelling with the immersive experience of streaming entertainment, offering audiences a fresh and engaging format.

Speaking about the collaboration, JioStar’s Head of Hindi and English Entertainment (Streaming, TV and Studios) Alok Jain said that Rajkumar Hirani’s stories have always carried a rare emotional intelligence that connects deeply with audiences across generations.
He added that Pritam and Pedro brings this storytelling approach into the streaming world, allowing viewers to engage more closely with characters and their journeys.
